Desmond Williams joins Finxflo as Global Chief Human Resources Officer
Seasoned People and Culture executive joins to help architect the future of FinxFlo’s distributed workforce
Keeping up with the momentum of growth and expansion that the company is going through, Finxflo is sourcing global talent to support its long-term vision. Finxflo is therefore pleased to announce that Desmond Williams has joined the company as Global Chief Human Resources Officer.
Desmond is excited to join Finxflo as he has been a passionate supporter of the blockchain industry since 2017. This, coupled with the opportunity to help further develop Finxflo into an employer of choice, was an opportunity that Desmond could not miss.
“Key to becoming an employer of choice, is to be the culture of choice” he said. He firmly believes that “Culture eats strategy for breakfast”¹. He will therefore be helping leaders and staff to define and develop the culture that they want to co-create — one which will attract, retain and motivate the best talent in our industry.
Desmond will manage the group’s HR function, with a focus on strategy, organisational design, and development.
His responsibilities will include directing and overseeing the HR function, implementing an effective human resource management plan, managing employee communications, implementing policies/procedures, collaborating with activity management teams on strategic HR issues, and providing coaching. Desmond will also operate at a strategic HR planning level, working closely with the Risk and Compliance team to ensure that Finxflo is fully compliant with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations; and internal/external audits as they pertain to the human resources function for all Global offices.
He also has over 22 years of experience in varying operational and organisational transformational HR roles across multiple industries and countries. In his last role, he was the co-founder of TribusAgile, a Singapore-based consultancy that provides virtual and in-person facilitated learning. The consultancy also provided advice to business leaders on how to design and cultivate more modern agile organisations. He has also worked with Parkway Pantai Ltd, a division of the largest Healthcare supplier in APAC, as Head of HR Strategy.
He has a Master’s Degree in International Management (University of Liverpool), a Degree in Political Science (University College Cork) as well as a Degree in Human Resource Management (National College of Ireland).
Desmond has completed Master’s level research in the area of emotional intelligence (EI) and National Culture and now specialises in EI assessment and development for senior leaders. He has been a practicing qualified psychometric assessor and coach for 20 years across multiple countries and cultures.
Apart from his consulting services, Williams also facilitates student learning in various institutions such as the Singapore Management University (SMU) and Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) He was the sole APAC Trainer for the Advanced Award in Organisational Design & Development, which is a Post Graduate qualification by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Before Covid-19, Desmond was an underwater photographer in his free time. He still likes to exercise outdoors as much as he can and socialise as often as he can.
